In a few days, we will enter
the Holy week. But how will we get out?
Will we retain just an annual
memory? A touching memory?
No, this week makes us live
a few days full of gravity, decisive days that
mark our life. The Holy week awakens us to holiness.
It is the very source of holiness, but we can
only become saints by following the path of
Jesus, the same path He established for us while
dying on the cross for our sins.
"Having therefore, brethren,
boldness for entering into the Holy of Holies
by the blood of Jesus, the new and living way
which he has dedicated for us through the veil,
that is, his flesh....."
He 10, 19-20
We Christians, are used to say
mere words. This seems so simple: the transition
is quickly done. In an overnight: the Cross
and the Resurrection.
The cross is not light. The
Lord reveals to us that to live the Cross, is
to deny ourselves. The renunciation is to pass
from the death of ourselves to the life with
the Christ. Our path could humanely scare us.
There are so many obstacles within us and around
us. In spite of our lack of fidelity, the fidelity
of the Lord who forgives us, accompany us, helps
us up and leads us to the eternal life through
the victory of Jesus over death.
"In
one sentence of his odes, Salmon said:
If you ever feel the weight of the Cross on
your shoulder, just think that this is the hand
of the beloved on the shoulder of the loved-one.
There is nothing more lovable than the Cross
of Jesus. Help us bear this cross with joy for
our sanctification, that of our families and
our society. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters,
The call of the month of April
invites us to:
-Celebrate the Eucharist while
praying for all the innocent victims of the
war in Iraq: May they enter the Joy, the Peace
and the light.
-Take time to "sit up"
with Jesus on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
Kneel down (according to St Basil, to kneel
is to show in acts that the sin threw us down),
also bend our heart in humility, prepare ourselves
to listen to the footsteps of the Risen Lord
and follow him. And even if we are only capable
of one thought: "it is too long to kneel
for an hour", staying awake in itself can
translate the Love and unity with the Christ.
It has nothing to do with feelings, but a perseverant
presence.
May you all have a blessed week.
